US gives Haitian immigrants extension in protected status

immiWASHINGTON, United States--Haitian immigrants in the United States who got Temporary Protected Status (TPS) after the 2010 earthquake have been given more time to stay in the country under that provision.

Secretary of Homeland Security Jeh Johnson announced Tuesday the extension of Haiti’s TPS designation for another 18 months, from January 23, 2016, to July 22, 2017.
