Health care unit to be
established in Belvedere
~ Parties sign agreement for transfer of land ~
PHILIPSBURG--The establishment of an Urgent Health Care Unit (UHCC) in Belvedere went one step closer to reality last Monday with the signing of a purchase and sale agreement for a plot of land on which the facility will be set up.
Public Works Commissioner Roy Marlin and the Project Developer/BBW signed the purchase and sale agreement with Prosperity for All Foundation to transfer a plot of land in Belvedere to be used for the health care clinic. The land is valued at NAf. 39,000.
A “dwelling house” valued at US $75,000 is currently located on the land. It could not be ascertained whether the health care facility would be established in the existing building.
As the name suggests, the Health Care Clinic will provide health care services to Belvedere community and surrounding areas.
“The purpose of the UHCC is endorsed by Government considering the non commercial broad base community care to be provided to the public,” it was stated in a Government Information Service (GIS) press release.
Present at the signing ceremony were Nirvana de Weever, who represented her father Leroy de Weever; Prosperity for All Foundation President Millicent Acuna Lopez de Weever; Commissioner Roy Marlin; BBW Project developer Alex McCarthy and Prosperity for All Foundation Treasurer Peter Gonsalves.
“This project is indeed an excellent project for the community of Belvedere,” Marlin was quoted as saying. “Government supports the initiative of Mr. Leroy de Weever in his efforts to improve the well being, especially in Health, of the community.”
Other details of the project were not provided.
