UPB threatens to
pull out of Cabinet

BONAIRE—Bonaire’s UPB party is seriously considering whether it will continue to be part of the current Central Government. If the party, led by Ramonsito Booi, does pull out, the De Jong-Elhage Cabinet will still maintain a slim majority in the Antillean Parliament.

The reason is, the answers provided by State Secretary of Kingdom Relations Ank Bijleveld to Dutch Parliament about the “black book” of the Good Governance Foundation which opposition leader Jopi Abraham is also part of.

She said she had sent the book with allegations of wrongdoings involving UPB administrators to the Attorney General. “Handling such cases is the responsibility of Antillean justice. I cannot go into that any further.”

Booi is not happy and the current four UPB members of the Executive Council have said that things cannot continue this way and that they are putting their position as commissioners at the disposal of the party.

UPB wants clarity from all the entities involved whether something is amiss in Bonaire.
