New ambulance acquired for
Ambulance des Îles du Nord

MARIGOT--Private company Ambulance des Îles du Nord held an inauguration party for its newly acquired ambulance at Ma Ti Beach Restaurant in Baie Nettle on Friday evening.

The two-year old company recently took possession of the 130,000-euro Category A type ambulance which goes into service this week, and complements the existing Transports VSL (emergency cars). The company now has two ambulances and five VSL cars.

Company owner Angéle Dormoy noted the ambulance is a hybrid vehicle conforming to private, fire brigade, and hospital requirements, and is fully outfitted and equipped to cope with emergencies.

“It’s the highest grade of ambulance available and they don’t even have this one in Guadeloupe,” noted Dormoy proudly.

She added that an inventory of ambulances on the island warranted the purchase of an additional one.

Many of the invited guests were from the medical profession who took time to inspect and admire the features of the ambulance.

Dormoy explained that the former company Ambulance St. Martinoise had been in existence for 20 years but was re-structured and transformed into Ambulance des Îles du Nord.

Friday’s function also served to introduce the company’s staff. The other private ambulance company on the French side is Erick Ambulance.
