These little ones took the opportunity to meet and take a photo with Santa during the third annual Santa parade held yesterday evening. The parade featured Santa arriving at Cyrus Wathey Square on top a fire truck led by the Soualiga Brass Band, Les Explorateurs drum band from French Saint Martin, Santa’s helpers and several cartoon characters.

Town full of Christmas
cheer on arrival Santa

PHILIPSBURG--Youngsters and their parents flocked to Front Street yesterday evening to observe Santa as he travelled up the street on the top of a fire truck.

Leading the parade was Soualiga Brass Band, Les Explorateurs drum band from French Saint Martin, Santa’s helpers and several characters such as Sponge Bob, Dora, Diego, Spiderman, Elmo, Donald Duck, Mickey Mouse and Shrek.

As the parade moved along, candy and Christmas ornaments were distributed to the youngsters. The little ones were in high spirits, even taking the chance to go on stage to dance and meet Santa.

Before Santa made his trip up to Cyrus Wathey Square, several local youth groups provided various sorts of entertainment through dancing, singing, modelling and so on.

This third annual Santa parade was marked as “The RBTT Santa in Philipsburg Parade,” as RBTT was the sponsor of the event and has been so for three years, after Commissioner Theo Heyliger had approached the bank for sponsorship for purchasing gifts for all the island’s youngsters.
