Minor damage to Winair
plane disrupts schedule

AIRPORT--A routine test flight Monday ended with minor damage to the left wing of a Windward Islands Airway International (Winair) aeroplane causing disruptions to the scheduled afternoon flight for the next few days.

Winair Managing Director Edwin Hodge told The Daily Herald that a new pilot and co-pilot were testing a landing at Princess Juliana International Airport when a gust of heavy wind pushed the light aeroplane off-track causing a nick on the wing.

Passengers booked on the affected flights are being accommodated on other flights and Winair expects to resume its regular schedule by Friday. One of the two parts needed to fix the aeroplane will be flown in from the United States today while the other is in stock.

Hodge apologised for any inconvenience to passengers.
