VKS commander’s gun
stolen from his house
PHILIPSBURG--Detectives are probing a break-in with special interest in recovering a service revolver belonging to Voluntary Corps St. Maarten VKS commander Major Jean Illidge.
This has increased the number of weapons stolen from law enforcement authorities for the year to about 16, as some 15 guns allegedly were stolen from the Customs Department a few months ago, although there has not been an official release on the number of weapons stolen from Customs.
Police reportedly went to Illidge’s home about two weeks ago when there was a break-in and when an inventory was made it was learnt that Illidge’s service revolver was amongst the items stolen.
Chief Prosecutor Taco Stein has confirmed that the weapon was listed amongst the stolen items, but said the investigation was ongoing and more details could not be released at this stage.
Regarding the weapons stolen from the Customs Department, Stein said that investigation also was still ongoing, but there were no new details for the moment.
