Owner of Players nightclub
arrested for human smuggling
PHILIPSBURG--Owner of Players nightclub in Sucker Garden L.R. has been arrested under the suspicion of human smuggling.
Chief Prosecutor Taco Stein confirmed that L.R. was arrested on December 21, after three of his female employees had filed an official complaint against him at the police station.
The three women told the police that they were held at the Sucker Garden nightclub against their will. Immediately after they managed to escape from the place where they were being held, they fled to the police station to file an official complaint.
They told the police that they were held against their will in a locked room. They also informed the police that they were sexually abused and raped by L.R.
Stein said that in the meantime, L.R. was led before a judge of instruction, who had ordered the suspect’s detention. Stein said the investigation in this case is still ongoing.
The three women have left the island because they were residing here illegally.
