New immigration
officers to take oath
PHILIPSBURG--A total of 21 new Immigration officers will take the oath in front of Lt. Governor Franklyn Richards today.
The new officers are desperately needed, as St. Maarten has been coping with a shortage of Immigration workers, Chief of Immigration Chief Inspector Geronimo Juliet told The Daily Herald.
Most of the new officers probably will be stationed at Princess Juliana International Airport. Some will be stationed at Simpson Bay, others at the harbour in Pointe Blanche and others in administration.
The oath-taking ceremony at the Lt. Governor’s cabinet is scheduled to start at 9:00am.
