Landing fees at heart of
Winair-Carib dispute

AIRPORT--Windward Islands Airways International Winair and Carib Aviation, an Antigua-based company, are in dispute over non-payment of landing fees and Air Traffic Control (ATC) fees in Antigua.

Carib Aviation operated the four daily flights between Antigua and Montserrat for Winair until last Wednesday. Winair has pulled an aircraft from its other routes to continue the service.

In a press statement Tuesday, Winair Managing Director Edwin Hodge said Carib Aviation had not been paying the fees according to the agreement and Winair had not remitted payment to the company. Payment will be made when “Carib rectifies the issue with the landing and ATC fees in Antigua.”

Carib Aviation did not pay for landing and ATC fees up to and including December 31, 2007.
