Dengue prevention brochure
launched on World Health Day

PHILIPSBURG--A lively discussion on climate change and its effects on health, a tour to several locations on the island and the launching of the dengue fever prevention brochure were among the series of activities held on Monday in commemoration of World Health Day.

The packed programme of activities also included the viewing of Al Gore’s documentary “An Inconvenient Truth,” by a cross-section of the community which included Commissioners Maria Buncamper-Molanus and Sarah Wescot-Williams and representatives of the VROM department, non-governmental organisations and health care officials.

Several thousand copies of the dengue fever prevention brochures were printed and will be distributed in the various districts as part of a public awareness campaign for residents to be aware of measures they can take to prevent mosquito breeding.

Health Sector Director Jorien Wuite said similar posters are also part of the campaign. Copies of the brochure were also presented to amongst others, Health Sector Director Jorien Wuite, Health Commissioner Maria Buncamper-Molanus, Head of the Preventative Section of Sector Health Care Affairs Dr. Rachel Eersel, Head of the Veterinary and Hygiene Department Antonio Boyrard and SHCA official Maria Henry.
