75 GEBE employees
receive ICT training
PHILIPSBURG--Seventy-five employees of utilities company GEBE from Saba, St. Eustatius and St. Maarten recently completed a three-day computer training programme on Microsoft Office.
The course certified Microsoft instructor William Guzman of New Horizons in Miami covered the latest applications of Microsoft Office 2007 which was made available to all GEBE employees.
The project, an initiative of Jurendy Woods, Gerard Ooms and Leandro Amarello of GEBE’s ICT department, allowed staff to upgrade themselves in Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel.
“This is the first time in many years that GEBE embarked on such a wide scale training program for its staff. It is essential that the employees of the company continue to upgrade themselves which will only further improve productivity,” GEBE Managing Director William Brooks said.
“It’s the company’s policy to improve the capacity and effectiveness of its human resources through the use of information, communication and knowledge for sustainable human development. We are therefore giving our employees the opportunity to exploit the information society,” he said.
