School bus
ambushed

SOUTH REWARD--Some twenty Milton Peters College students leaving school around 1:30pm yesterday were subjected to what was described as an aggressive movie-style-gangster attack on the bus taking them home.

The attackers used two cars to corner and block the bus in front and behind on L.B. Scott Road in the vicinity of Sheik Supermarket. According to an eyewitness, three persons exited the cars and bombarded the big orange school bus with rocks, and one of the attackers used a baseball bat.

The witness said up to five men took part in the attack at some point and seemed to have been calling on specific students to come out of the bus. One of the attackers was wearing a shirt that indicated that he might be connected with a major local supermarket.

Students on the bus huddled together and, although they were showered with pieces of broken glass from three shattered windows, reportedly no one was injured. However, it is not clear whether any of the students who were being called out of the bus was injured after students started to escape from the bus and flee the scene.
