Commissioner, spouse aren’t
foundation board members

PHILIPSBURG--Commissioner Maria Buncamper-Molanus and her spouse Claudius Buncamper are not board members of The Sky is the Limit Foundation, although the Commissioner has served on this board, the commissioner’s press secretary Michael Granger stated in a press release issued on Sunday.

As was published in Saturday’s The Daily Herald, Governor Frits Goedgedrag requested all relevant information about a telecommunications company TelEm donation to The Sky is the Limit Foundation concerning a Carnival activity.

“The fact is the TelEm group of companies has sponsored the ‘From Us to You’ Calypso Show on an annual basis for the last three years. Through its contribution, TelEm demonstrates that it recognises the importance of supporting local musicians, in particular calypsonians, in their efforts to develop their music and performing skills to a level unmatched in the Caribbean,” the release stated.

The “From Us to You” Calypso Show continues to be one of the biggest and more affordable shows on the Carnival calendar, Granger said.

The Sky is the Limit Foundation took a decision in April 2007 to exclusively promote and support production of local music, in particular traditional music. The foundation is also actively working on producing a one-hour radio programme starting Saturday, June 7, from 11:00am until 12:00pm.

The Commissioner hopes that the general public will continue to support the foundation and its positive contributions to the community.
